Small Parts Conveyors

Small parts conveyors are vibrating conveyors used for discharging, conveying, feeding, dosing and distributing fine-grained bulk materials and large quantities of relatively small parts. Elektromag has been manufacturing these conveyors over the years and leads the field in India.

They are used in many branches of industry, for example in the chemical and synthetic materials industries, food processing, sand, gravel and stone quarries, for small parts assembly mechanisms, in the foodstuffs and luxury food sectors, paper making industry, and in sugar refineries, oil refineries and foundries.
The compact small parts conveyor drives are available in a range of sizes and can be fitted with attachments such as troughs, tubes or rails.

The drive on small parts conveyors are available with a trough already mounted. They are standard items in our programme of products for distributing and dosing bulk materials. They can also be supplied with feed hoppers and hopper vibrators if required.

The power units allow the conveyors to be run off an AC mains amd the amplitude to be set at any level between almost zero and the rated value.

  ADVANTAGES OF SMALL PARTS CONVEYORS

  • Compact dimensions with a large conveying capacity
  • relible operations for long periods
  • specially designed two-mass vibration system
  • vibration characteristics unaffected by the weight of the material being conveyed
  • maintenance free drive unit
  • smooth start up with electronic power unit
CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION

Small parts conveyors are two mass vibration systems tuned near to resonance. The drive section contains the elements which induce vibration, that is an electromagnet, base housing, trough carrier and springs.

The attachment is fixed to the drive unit so that it is easily removable. The system is desinged to meet individual requriements and ensure a constant level of vibration. Individual components are available separately and are always compatible with each other. For example, a small parts conveyor is made up of a small parts conveyor drive and an attachment (trough or rail).

Each drive unit must be connected via the approprite power unit. With the amplitude controller the feed rate can be varied over a very wide range.

Small parts conveyors are mounted on rubber mounts to ensure that virtually no vibration is transmitted to surrounding areas.

APPLICATION

The table on the reserve mentions standard sizes of small parts conveyors fitted with a trough. Depending on individual requirements, the troughs can be totally enclosed with spigoted inlets and fitted with screen sections etc. On request, other attachments can be built in order to meet special requirements for example, conveyors with multiple drive etc.

Rails for conveying oriented parts are always built on order, so as to suit the dimensions of the items being conveyed.

Almost all standard troughs are manufactured from stainless steel and are polished electrochemically. In some cases the trough are made up of synthetic materials or light alloys. If trough lonings are required, a range of different materials is available to meet the requirements of individual installations.

If customers make their own conveying attachments (trough rail etc.) they should ensure that it is suffciently strong to withstand the vibration. Long lengths, low side-walls without increased mechanical stiffness, thin sheet metal, or excessive widths without reinforcing struts should be avoided.

FEED HOPPERS
Three sizes of stainless feed hoppers are available to suit the range of different small parts conveyors. The volume of the hopper and the diameter of the discharge outlet are determined by the width of the standard trough used. The feed hoppers are adjustable for height and are attached to a special frame. The base-plate of the frame supports the small parts conveyors, thereby forming a single unit (fig. 3). The vertical adjustments makes it easy to regulate the layer height in the trough, which in turn controls the delivery flow. If required, the feed hopper can be supplied with a viabrator which causes the material being conveyed to discharge more easily.
POWER UNITS
Small parts conveyors are always connected to and driven by power units running of 50 Hz AC mains. These connection units are available separately. They make it possible to alter the amplitude, thus varying the delivery flow almost 0 to 100%. On the enclosed version (fig. 4) the on/off switch and amplitude adjuster are mounted on the front panel. The control cpmponents can also be supplied separately for building into composite control systems.
