`ELEKTROMAG - AIRBARGE' Offers a unique Modular System of standard load bearing platforms and containers that float on an air cushion. These Units provide virtually frictionless movement in any direction for loads of any size and weight when powered from a standard shop air supply.

APPLICATION

As shown in the block diagram below, "ELEKTROMAG - AIRBARGE" Casters can be installed on a variety of structural components including air pads, air tables, air pallets and air vans.

CAPACITY AND DIMENSION

Typical capacities and dimensions of standard air Pallets are as follows :-

Minimum : 4 Caster Air Pallets : Capacity : 5 Tonnes
Platform Dimension : 1 Mtr. x 1 Mtr. (Approx.)

Maximum : 8 Caster Air Pallets : Capacity : 80 Tonnes
Platform Dimension : 2.4 Mtr. x 6 Mtr. (Approx.)
"Heavy Lift" versions double these load capacities in same size.

METHOD OF OPERATION

"ELEKTROMAG - AIRBARGE" Air Casters employ the most advanced air seals. These PATENTED seals employ a flexible wear foot mounted below a completely protected inflatable hanger. Since this inflated seal hanger cannot come in contact with the surface over which the seal is operated, all wear is taken by the wear foot. This inexpensive wear foot can be replaced when necessary without replacing the remainder of the seal assembly. See cross-section of Air Caster below.

"ELEKTROMAG - AIRBARGE" Units are powered by Industrial Shop air systems which supply air at a nominal pressure of 7 Kgs./cm.sq.(100 PSI). For proper performance of the Air Casters, it is essential that air pressure measured at the inlet control valve be at least 5.6 Kgs./cm.sq. (80 PSI) while the casters are in operation and air is flowing through the supply system.

FLOOR SURFACE REQUIRED

The floor surface over which this equipment is to be operated should be reasonably smooth, flat, continuous and structurally capable of supporting a distributed load of at least 3.6 Kgs/cm/sq. (50 pounds per square inch) The floor surface should be non-porous to minimise loss of air. If expansion joints, cracks or airgaps exist in the floor they should be filled with epoxy or mastic. Further, if the floor surface is sloping, there should not be any abrupt change in the slope. If the floor surface is covered with sharp metal shavings, chips, cutting oil or solvents, the load floating on the Air Casters will simply push and blow the debris aside leaving a clean path. No damage can possibly occur to the inflated diaphragm protected as it is by the wear foot.
