Metal Detecting Device
MODEL MS 06/85/SC,SCTA

APPLICATION

The types SC (standard unit) and SCTA (tandem unit) are metal detecting devices for protection and monitoring. These devices are designed with a specification that makes them suitable for a wide range of applications in areas where material have to be checked in view of metal pollution. Where ever metal pieces in the conveyed material may damage sensitive machinery, the metal detecting devices will prevent expensive repairs and production break-downs.

The devices will not report ferric oxides like magnetite and hematite that are often inclusions in basalt, in builders sand, and especially in slages. Thus the metal detecting devices SC and SCTA will help you to assure the quality of your products and save costs.

Typical areas of applications:

  • stone and earth industry.
  • recycling industry.
  • slags processing industry.

Both types , SC and SCTA will detect all kinds of metal. In conjunction with an Automatic Delayed Triggering Device (optional) and an ejector or an alarm device. (e.g. flap, lamp or something similar) you can fit a fully automated section of monitoring.

ADVANTAGE

  • Probe and amplifier are designed in a solid and vibration resistant way.
  • time-saving simple mounting under the conveyor belt. there is no need to cut the belt.
  • adjustable sensitivity.
  • The material of the probe is weather-proof.
  • permissible ambient temperature max. 120ø c (optional).
  • front panel with all controls and a standard fitting panel meter for function check.
  • suitable constructed for maintenance.
  • standard self-monitoring and function control button.

FUNCTION

A high frequency alternating voltage is fed from the amplifier to a coil in the probe via a 75 ohms coaxial cable.

This generates an electromagnetic field. if a metal piece comes into this field induction currents will be generated that will drain power from the oscillator. If depending on the selected sensitivity an unwanted metal piece in the conveyed material is identified by the electronics in the amplifier, the output relay will switch to its other state for about 0.5 seconds.

The output relay has two nc/no-contacts that are wired to the terminal strip. These contacts can be used to stop the conveyor belt., or to activate an ejection device.

The standard self-control feature continually monitors important functions, like the high frequency generator, the coaxial cable, and the tuning of the probe. In case of trouble a second relay will switch to its other stage, the nc/no- contacts of which are also connected to the terminals strip. The relay will remain in the other state as long as the trouble persists.

DESIGN

The metal detecting device consist of two components, the probe and the amplifier, both of which are interconnected by one coaxial cable.

The probe will be furnished to match your conveyor belt width., There is a single probe and a tandem probe available. the planar single probe will usually be mounted underneath the conveyor belt. The tandem probe consists toe planar probes, one of which will be mounted underneath the conveyor belt, while the other probe will be held above the belt by special supports.

The tandem probe is distinguished by a sensitivity that is very uniform over the whole area in between the two planar probes. This probe type is therefore recommended for great charging heights, or if high sensitivity is required. The special supports will be furnished according to your belt charging height. The amplifier conatins the electronic circuitry. The operating controls are on the front plate arranged for easy identification, and are accessible by opening a hinged door.

Actuating the function control button will simulate a metal piece in the conveyed material. This feature allows testing the whole chain of operation of the metal detector device.
