Vibratory Conveyor Units driven by Unbalance Motors and Unbalance Exciters
UNBALANCE DRIVES, UNBALANCE MOTORS

Unbalance drives are suitable for use in all cases where the oscillation amplitude, and consequently, the delivery flow are not required to alter during operation and where there is no call for controllability. ELEKTROMAG-AEG Unbalance Motors are robust, reliable in operation, have a high loading capacity and do not require maintenance.

The major advantages of unbalance drives are :

Great forces in relation to their dead weight and price. Variable speeds by selecting the number of pole pairs. Simple to use and connect.

Conveyor units and screens, for example, operate with liner oscillations which are produced by two unbalance motors rotating in opposite directions. The unbalance force can be altered during standstill either by displacing removing or by adding unbalance weights.

CONVEYOR UNITS

TYPES

ELEKTROMAG-AEG Unbalance vibration Units are suitable for the conveyance of bulk materials of all types and grain size. The construction and material of the conveyor unit is determined by the following factors: application, size of grain, bulk density and nature of the bulk material. the most important construction types are given in table 1. Trough Conveyor for Slightly Abrasive bulk Goods Type OA.

These units are mainly used as bin discharge troughs or as trough conveyors for medium conveyance sections. There is a variety of material and linings available which take a great deal of stress and for bulk materials which tend to stick.

TROUGH CONVEYOR FOR SEVERELY ABRASIVE BULK GOODS

All depending on the type and extent of the stress, bin discharge troughs can be manufactured as a heavy construction, type OA, or with linings of various strengths, type OA...As. Type OA...AS trough conveyors with linings are suitable for medium conveyance sections. The bottoms and walls of lined troughs are additionally reinforced by means of bolted-in wear plate. These plates can made out of various materials depending on the type of stress they are to be subjected to.

TROUGH CONVEYORS FOR LONG CONVEYANCE, TYPE OL

The conveyance sections are put together in modular fashion: at the end of a 6 m long trough conveyor with drive up to 4 attachable troughs of 3,4, 5 or 6 m in length and without drive can be flanged on.

By combining corresponding troughs conveyance sections of 9 to 30 m stepped in lengths of 1 m can be delivered. the attachable troughs in both directions thus forming a conveyance section with rear unbalance drive with front drive and central drive sizes to choose from. With this type of construction the conveyance section has to be mounted on a fixed base. We will gladly supply information on this upon request.

The trough conveyors can be equipped with cover, with a lining as protection against wear and caking or with fixed side-cheeks.

Conveyor Units for Bulk Materials tending to Form Dust Tubular conveyors or trough conveyors with cover are recommended for bulk materials with a high proportion of fines which tend to form dust at the supply points. A lid is screwed at the inlet of the tubular conveyor type GA and can be removed in order to clean the tube. If necessary, the outlet, and in the case of tubular conveyance sections, the supply points, are easily sealed by means of bellows or flexible flangs. Trough conveyors measuring 400, 500, 650 and 900 mm in width can be equipped with removable cover. A nozzle is fitted in the inlet cover and at the outlet, a flange. bellows or flexible sleeves are used as seals. In the case of troughs measuring over 900 mm in width we recommend a stationary cover e.g. in conjunction with the fixed side cheeks for increasing the layer. the dimensions of the equipment also apply to trough conveyor with covers. In the case of units with co-vibrating covers the delivery flow is expected to be 5 to 10% less, depending on the size of the trough.

MATERIALS

Steel is very easy to mould and weld and its resistance to wear is adequate for the majority of applications. The special steel TISCRAL is used where there is a greater tendency to wear. Synthetic linings made of low density polyethylene or rubber linings a re particularly suitable for abrasive, sticky and chemically aggressive bulk materials.

There is also a choice of heat resistant steels available for higher temperature.

DELIVERY FLOW

The delivery flow figures attainable with the respective conveyor unit are the figures based on gravel or damp sand. The values given apply to any bulk material which can be conveyed easily with a bulk density of 0(theta) = 1.6 t/m3 and having an approximately round or cubic grain form.

It should however, be noted that all the specified delivery flows are liable to decrease when bulk material is conveyed with :

  • high bulk densities.
  • flat, scaly forms of granulation.
  • broke, sharp-edged grains (such as coke or chippings)
  • a high moisture content.
  • a high proportion on fines
  • flexible properties (refuse, thin metal and wood parings)

As far as high bulk densities are concerned, the delivery flow Q in m3/h must be reduced at the ratio of 1.6/0(theta) as long as the layer height h, can be increase accordingly. Fixed side-cheeks are essential for layer greater than 250 mm.

The figure in the tables refer to unbalance motors with an unbalance force set to the maximum value and to the mounting position specified (horizontal mounting or at 8 deg. inclination). The delivery flow is affected when the mounting position is changed.

INSTALLATION GUIDELINES

Bin discharge troughs should, wherever possible, be relieved of the bin pressure. The shape of the bin outlet and the ration between the depth of the bin T and the passage height H =< 1:1 are important factors specified (with normal and above all with increased layer heights) .The units are supported or suspended on rubber pads, tension springs or compression springs. This prevents the vibrations travelling to the frame structure.
